Cashew Fruit and Nut

In India, someone gave me a cashew fruit and nut. They said wash the cashew fruit before you eat and they said don’t eat the nut. I was really surprised that you could only eat the fruit. I get big bundles of the nut at the grocery store all the time. So, I asked my mom and she didn’t even know. I also asked her, “Why don’t you know?” She didn’t even know that.

I looked online and discovered that most people don’t know how cashew grows. I also looked up what’s edible from the cashew tree. Once it finished loading, I learned that it grows in India, Eastern Brazil, which is its native place, and my most favorite, Vietnam. I love the name "Vietnam." It said that it is really easy to find a cashew tree in India. I think the reason why barely any people know about this is that they are in a different country than India and it doesn’t grow there.

You can get sick from the outside shell of cashew nuts, but if you roast it, it will be fine to eat. So beware. If your plane crashes like Brian in “The Hatchet,” don’t eat the nut without preparation or without cooking. If you touch the green stuff like the lady in the picture, you'll get blisters on your skin.

The fruit, often called “apples,” is really sweet and astringent. At first it is sweet, but then it is really astringent. Astringent to me tasted like dry wet. It was like astringent strawberry strouping syrup.
